I am Qiaochu Wang (
), born on July 17th, 2001, a graduating master student at 
École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Currently, I am doing my master thesis at 
Isospec Analytics SA and living in 
St-Sulpice. I lived in 
Nanjing, the best city in the China, for 1401 days — from 23 August 2019 to 24 June 2023 — for my bachelor’s studies at 
Southeast University. Before that, I grew up in Tangshan and went to high school at 
Hengshui No.2 High School
In my spare time, I like to jog, swim, and read, though I am bad at all three of them. I love romantic things, and things that evoke unique memories for me. My favorite writers include Hermann Hesse and Yasunari Kawabata, and among painters, I am currently fond of Claude Monet. Although my financial situation does not allow me to travel frequently, I still try to do so whenever I can. I enjoy experiencing the customs and ways of life in different places, learning what ordinary strangers think, and, in the process, experiencing and interpreting the abstract concept of beauty. My favorite cities to visit are Tokyo and Paris and I am looking forward to adding more on my list.

is a poem in the Book of Songs praising a man’s inner virtue, his bearing and his moral cultivation — the ideal of excellence I aspire to. Its allusion is to water, specifically a tributary of the Hai River, the image I loved most before I turned 25; these days I lean towards mountains, and that shift is also why I chose the first photograph on the left. It also happens to sound like the first half of my first name: Qi Ao vs Qiao (and chu carries the same connotation). Far as it is from who I actually am, it holds my preference.
